Heat clinch No. 3 seed despite bad loss

The Miami Heat blew a huge lead to the Boston Celtics Wednesday but managed to hold on to the No. 3 seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs.

The Celtics erased a 26 point deficit to defeat the Heat during the teams regular season finale in Boston.

Celtics guard Isaiah Thomas scored a game-high 21 points. His backcourt mate Avery Bradley added 17 points.

Joe Johnson scored 19 points for the Heat, which clinched the No. 3 seed after the Washington Wizards defeated the Atlanta Hawks 109-89.

Miami led 62-38 at the half but were outscored 25-5 in the third quarter.

Dwyane Wade finished with 17 points for the Heat (48-38).

Miami is the Southeast division champion and will face Charlotte in the first round of the playoffs.
No. 5 seed Boston will face No. 4 Atlanta.

Now, while that's great news for the Whiteside family, it puts the Heat franchise in a tight spot.
